Sittin’ Pretty

There is something quietly absurd about trying to appear effortless. Tender, visceral and grotesque, Sittin’ Pretty is a contemporary performance work that oscillates between intimacy and spectacle. A fever dream cabaret, the work abstracts familiar iconographies and explores the delicate boundary between what is performed and what is lived, leaving certainty just out of reach. Through a world that resists linear narrative, it instead offers a landscape that asks audiences to embrace ambiguity, sit with discomfort, laugh at the ridiculous and recognise the labour required to construct femininity as performance.
